Criminal Justice
Mission Statement
The mission of the Criminal Justice program is to prepare students for success in law enforcement and criminal justice fields or for the pursuit of law school or graduate degrees.
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Criminal Justice is designed to prepare students for graduate school and for diversified work experiences in the public sector, particularly in the criminal justice system. In addition, the Criminal Justice student will receive knowledge and skills that will enable him or her to pursue opportunities in loss prevention and private security.
There are three options for students interested in a degree in Criminal Justice:
- Criminal Justice
- Criminal Justice with a minor
- Criminal Justice with Law Enforcement Training Academy
This option cannot be chosen until the completion of the sophomore year and requires approval from the Criminal Justice Program Director, the Dean of Humanities, Education, and the Arts, and the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
NOTE: Students who have completed P.O.S.T. training with a registered law enforcement agency may be eligible for experiential credit if they provide evidence of having completed the training at the point of admission to the University and prior to declaring the Criminal Justice major. POST Credit.
