The mission of the Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice program is to prepare students for an entry level position in the criminal justice field or for continuing education.
Degree Requirements
Area I - Foundations Skills - 3 hours
FSL 101 | Foundations of Scholarship and Learning | 3 |
FSL 101 is required for new and transferring freshmen with less than 24 hours. Students must earn a "C" or higher in FSL 101.
Area I - Rhetoric and Communication - 9 hours
Students must earn a "C" or higher in ENG 101 and ENG 102.
Area I - Mathematics - 3-4 hours
Choose one from the following:
Area I - Computer Literacy - 3 hours
CIS 170 | Intro to Microcomputer Applications | 3 |

Area II - The Arts - 3 hours

Students must earn a "C" or higher in POLSC 223 and POLSC 224.

Area II - History - 6 hours

Area II - The Natural Sciences - 7-8 hours
Choose two different science disciplines from the following:
Criminal Justice Core Courses - 12 hours
Students must earn a "C" or higher in all Criminal Justice courses.
AND choose one course from the following electives:

POLSC 223 | Introduction to American National Government & Politics | 3 |
POLSC 224 | Introduction to American State and Local Government & Politics | 3 |
POLSC 223 and POLSC 224 may not be used for Criminal Justice electives if used in the GEC or chosen in the Criminal Justice Core. Students must earn a "C" or higher in Criminal Justice Core Courses.
General Electives - 3-8 hours
Students take electives as needed, in order to fulfill the minimum of 60 semester credit hours required for graduation.
