NUR 408 Nursing in Child and Family Care
Nursing Care of the Child and Family provides core knowledge of pediatric nursing by presentation of the theory, knowledge, and evidence-based practice for pediatric care through various stages of development, degrees of wellness, and diverse backgrounds. Clinical reasoning and decision making using the nursing process continue to be emphasized. The course provides an introduction to the pediatric nursing specialty in all health care settings; well-child, acute, chronic, or terminal care. This course emphasizes developmentally appropriate family-centered care through which the nurse promotes child safety, wellness, and disease prevention. The student participates in didactic, simulated, hospital-based, and community-based learning experiences. Three classroom hours and two clinical credit hours per week (90 clinical and lab hours/semester). Fees: $760.00 testing fee and $125.00 laboratory fee.
