NUR 426 Nursing Leadership and Management

This course focuses on organizational theory and structure in relation to the management of patient care within a rapidly changing health care delivery system. Primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention strategies and skills necessary for the management of appropriate and effective nursing care are explored and analyzed. The use of outcome measures to promote quality and cost effective health care in various organizations and health care delivery systems is emphasized. Various nursing theories are explored. Three lecture hours each week and a 48-hours preceptored leadership clinical experience.
