SOC 327 Organized Crime

This course examines the history, nature, and evolution of organized crime in the United States from its nineteenth century origins to present. The impact of prohibition, political corruption, the Kefauver Senate hearings, and other significant events will be analyzed. In addition, the criminal justice response, including the use of wiretaps, RICO, asset seizure, and witness protection, will be reviewed.
