NUR 302 Professional Nursing Foundations
An entry-level course to Upper Division Nursing with emphasis on the theoretical concepts of the nursing metaparadigm and the nursing process, along with psychomotor and communication skills that provide foundations for professional nursing practice. This course includes an introduction to the concepts of wellness and health promotion as well as normal human physiologic processes across the lifespan. There is a focus on human responses to illness and appropriate nursing care practices along with the development of critical thinking and decision making skills. Client needs in regards to activities of daily living, safety, therapeutic communication, and clinical procedures is explored. Attention is also given to health care terminology using a body systems approach and to relevant basic mathematical calculations; an introduction to systems of measurement; an introduction to systems of medication administration and calculations for oral, parenteral, and intravenous medications for clients across the lifespan. NUR 302, Professional Nursing Foundations, is the equivalent of four classroom hours and two clinical/laboratory hours per week. Fee: $144.00
