Transfer Students

Thank you for your interest in Cumberland University! The following steps will guide you through the application process. All students who wish to transfer from another college or university to Cumberland University must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or better to qualify for admission.

  1. Complete the undergraduate application and return it to the Office of Admissions, or submit your application online at www.cumberland.edu. Students who apply online may pay their application fee online.
  2. Pay the $25 application fee. You may choose one of three options:

  3. Students with a GPA or ACT/SAT score that does not fit the combination scale will be admitted only upon the recommendation and approval of the Cumberland University Admissions Committee or, if the student is a Cumberland University Dual Enrollment student, successfully completes their dual enrollment courses with a minimum 3.00 GPA.
    1. For students who do not meet the minimum high school grade point average (unweighted) and/or minimum ACT composite score/SAT Critical Reading and Mathematics combined score, the University will require the student to complete a personal statement. Written by the student, the personal statement will indicate why the student would like to attend Cumberland University, would help contribute to a diverse student body, and measures the student will take to be successful academically at the University.
  4. Students must submit official transcripts from ALL colleges attended. Transfer students who have previously passed fewer than 30 semester hours at other institutions must submit high school transcripts or General Education Development (GED) test scores, plus official ACT/SAT score(s) to the Office of Admissions. Transfer students must be eligible to re-enter the school from which they are transferring.
  5. All students must provide documentation of the required immunizations. For further information regarding current immunization requirements please contact the Office of Admissions. 
  6. Contact the Office of Admissions or your Admissions Representative to schedule a campus visit.
  7. Visit the Student Financial Services Office for specific information regarding institutional scholarships. Information concerning scholarships can be found in the current University catalog, or at www.cumberland.edu. If applying for work-study or endowed scholarships submit the application which is available on our website, or in the Student Financial Services Office.
  8. Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov by January 31st. Be sure to add Cumberland University's school code (003485) to your FAFSA.
