NUR 315 Pharmacology in Nursing II

This course must be taken following the successful completion of NUR 314, Pharmacology I. During this course, the student continues to gain core knowledge related to pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacotherapeutics. This information, which is evidence based, provides the student with data to critically think and examine case studies as a means of preparation for clinical practice. The student explores selected drug classification with continued emphasis on communication and informatics to assist in assuring patient safety. Drug side effects, contraindications, and interactions are explored and the role of the nurse in being accountable and having integrity will be operationalized in accordance with Patient Safety Plans identified by the Institute of Medicine. Drug research is explored via informatics technology and mechanisms to keep current regarding pharmacology will be identified. Two classroom hours per week.
