Mission Statement
The mission of the Bachelor of Music program is to provide a rigorous, student-focused curriculum aligned with national accreditation standards, preparing students for arts-related careers in education, performance, or general music, with options to integrate other academic and career interests or further graduate study.
Admissions Requirements for Music
Music Major/Minors
It is highly recommended that students intending to major in music have studied voice or an instrument with a qualified teacher. Admission to all music degree programs is by audition only, which is used to guide and assist students to make informed choices and to determine eligibility for music scholarships. Audition requirements and dates are published annually. Students also have the option of submitting their audition electronically.
Non-Music Majors
Non-music majors are welcome and form an integral part of the musical/cultural life of the University. Admission to the University Ensembles and eligibility for scholarships is by audition only. Audition requirements and dates for students of other majors are published annually. Students also have the option of submitting their auditions electronically.
