MSN 6220 Crisis Communication

The Crisis Communication course equips Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) students with advanced crisis communication skills tailored to patients experiencing mental health crises. Focusing on patient-centered care, students will learn effective techniques to manage high-stress, high-stakes situations and respond with empathy, clarity, and control. The course covers essential frameworks for de-escalation, suicide prevention, and trauma-informed communication, alongside strategies for engaging with families and multidisciplinary teams. Students will build competencies in communication that prioritize patient safety, dignity, and recovery. Fee: $75.00.
