Minor

Some students choose to complement a major program with a minor in a related field. All minors require a minimum of at least 18 semester hours, at least 9 of which must be upper division courses. Specific requirements for majors and minors are listed in the respective disciplines. At least two courses (minimum of 6 credit hours) in the minor field must be taken at Cumberland. Students taking a major and a minor from the same department must complete all requirements listed in the Catalog for the major and the minor. Since some courses may be required in both the major and the minor, there must be at least six distinct hours in the minor with no overlap in the core major requirements of requirements for other minors.
