Information Technology Management

Mission Statement

The Master of Science (MS) degree in Information Technology Management (ITM) program at Cumberland University empowers our graduates to become strategic leaders with management and technical skills and knowledge to ensure their professional and personal success as twenty-first century global leaders.

Application Requirements

Cumberland University makes no distinction in its admission, policies, or procedures on grounds of age, sex, religion, race, national origin, or physical handicap. In addition to the general admissions requirements for graduate students the following is required for students entering the Information Technology Management program.

  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university, or from a recognized international institution located outside the United States, with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Students that have been previously admitted with less than a 2.5 GPA may complete 7 credit hours under that awarded provisional status. If the student earns a grade of "B" or higher in all courses during the initial term of study he or she may be awarded final acceptance into the program, absent other omissions.
  • Once accepted into the Information Technology Management program, the student must maintain good academic standing as described by the Office of Academic Affairs to continue in the program and register for courses.

Degree Requirements

The Information Technology Management program requires a minimum of 35 credit hours - typically 10 three credit hour courses with 5 one credit hour field experience courses. Students who transfer from another institution and request the transfer of course credits from that institution must earn a minimum of 30 hours at Cumberland University to complete this degree. All requests for the transfer of course credits from another institution are subject to review and approval by the Program Director, which may be withheld under certain circumstances. The core requirements for this program consist of ten courses that all ITM students must complete. Students additionally take 5-6 credit hours of either field experience courses or additional MBA, ITM, or EGMT courses chosen in coordination with the student's academic advisor.
