Exercise and Sport Science
Mission Statement
The mission of the Exercise and Sport Science program is to provide students with evidence-based knowledge, theory, skills, abilities, and personal attributes essential to obtain successful careers in the various fields within exercise and sport science or for the pursuit of post-graduate education.
The Cumberland University Exercise and Sport Science program promotes active participation in sport and physical activity across the life span. The program prepares future professionals for careers in fitness/wellness, strength and conditioning, preventative healthcare, graduate programs in EXSS-Exercise Physiology, and pre-professional preparation for other allied healthcare professions such as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physician Assistant programs.

Area I - Foundation Skills - 3 hours

FSL 101 is required for new and transferring freshmen with less than 24 credit hours. Students must earn a "C" or higher in FSL 101 or HON 101.
Area I - Rhetoric and Communication - 9 hours
Students must earn a "C" or higher in ENG 101 and ENG 102 or HON 110.
Area I - Mathematics - 3-4 hours
Choose one from the following:
Students are required to earn a "C" or higher in Mathematics courses.
