MSN 6130 Curriculum Frameworks and Design

Learners in this course focus on the role in higher education or peer education. Learners are prepared for course and curricula design and program outcome assessment, along with roles of faculty and administrators in these processes. Several philosophical approaches will be considered that fit the schools programs beliefs, assumptions, and values including core nursing concepts: health promotion, critical thinking and decision making, evidence based nursing, student/faculty collaboration, and patient assessment. In addition, core concepts of curriculum will be examined that include: Contructivism/Post-positivism, Humanism-existentialism, Critical social theory, Collaborative inquiry, epistemology, Action-sensitive pedagogy, Apprenticeship/Cognative apprenticeship, Behaviorism/positivism, and Feminism.
