Early College
Early college is a program in which qualified high school juniors and seniors enroll in college courses offered by the university. Students will be given the opportunity to complete 60 semester hours of college credits in four semesters, completing the requirements for an Associate of Art degree at the same time that they complete their high school diploma.
Courses will be offered to a cohort of students from area high schools on the university campus. Course offerings will ensure that participating students will be able to return to their high school campus to participate in programs and athletics that take place in the afternoons.
To qualify for the Early College program, students must:
- Be recommended by their high school counselor as being academically prepared to engage in college-level work, and possess the maturity and responsibility to ensure success.
- Have a minimum unweighted high school grade point average of 3.0.
- Have a composite 21 ACT with sub-scores of 22 in Mathematics and 17 in English. Comparable scores on the SAT are acceptable, in accordance with the ACT/SAT Concordance Tables.
- Students may also take the Math Placement exam for consideration if Math subscore is below 22.
- Submit all required documentation, transcript, and immunizations for admission to the University and program.
- Submit all required registration forms.
General Information
- Any early college student who earns a "D" in a course and/or is placed on probation will not be allowed to continue in the Early College program.
