NUR 404 Newborn/Child/Women's Nursing for LPN to BSN
This is a hybrid course for the Licensed Practical Nurse pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing. The course provides the core knowledge of nursing care infants and children in addition to care of women from their childbearing years through menopause. Topics include conception, fetal development, pregnancy, labor and birth, postpartum, the newborn, and issues specific to women’s health. The course provides an introduction to the pediatric nursing specialty, a review of child growth and development, pediatric genomic health care, child health promotion, and care of the hospitalized child. The student participates in didactic online, simulation in lab, and hospital-based clinicals in pediatric and obstetrical settings. (90 clinical hours/semester) Fees: $760 testing fee and $125 laboratory fee.
