NUR 342 Transcultural Nursing and Global Health

Transcultural Nursing and Global Health is a required course in the RN to BSN program. The course is designed for nursing students seeking to deepen their understanding of cultural competency in nursing care. The course focuses on developing the skills and knowledge necessary to provide culturally sensitive and appropriate care to patients from diverse cultural backgrounds. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including the study of different cultural beliefs, values, and practices related to health and illness. Students will explore the concept of cultural humility and examine how cultural differences impact patient care, communication, and health outcomes. Ethical and legal considerations of cultural care will be discussed. Students may but are not required to participate in a week long Transcultural Nursing practicum.
