Homeland Security
The Homeland Security major leads to a Bachelor of Science degree and extends beyond the general Criminal Justice major into a more specialized area. Homeland security functions can be found at the federal, state, and local levels, including emergency management, intelligence analysis, and human trafficking units. Areas of private industry, including compliance managers, security management, corporate security, risk managers, information analysts, and non-government organizations, also hire students with degrees in Homeland Security. This program will prepare students with critical thinking, leadership, analytical, and communication skills needed for government agency or private sector careers.

FSL 101 is required for new and transferring freshmen with less than 24 credit hours. Students must earn a "C" or higher in FSL 101 or HON 101.
Area I - Rhetoric and Communication - 9 hours
Students must earn a "C" or higher in ENG 101 and ENG 102 or HON 110.
Area I – Mathematics - 3-4 hours

Students must earn a "C" or higher in all Homeland Security core requirements.
Criminal Justice Electives - 9 hours
Choose three criminal justice electives at the 300 level or higher.
Students must earn a "C" or higher in Criminal Justice electives.
General Electives - 27-31 hours
Select sufficient courses from any academic discipline to bring the total hours for graduation to a minimum of 120.
