Through authentic field experiences and the development of foundational academic skills and general pedagogical knowledge, the mission of the Associates of Arts in Education program is to prepare students for transition to educator preparation candidacy in various licensure programs.

Area I - Foundations Skills - 3 hours

FSL 101 is required for new and transferring freshmen with less that 24 hours. Students must earn a "C" or higher in FSL 101 or HON 101.
Area I - Rhetoric and Communication - 9 hours
Students must earn a "C" or higher in ENG 101 and ENG 102 or HON 110.
Area I - Mathematics - 3-4 hours
Choose one from the following:
Students must earn a "C" or higher in MATH 110, MATH 111, MATH 119, or MATH 121.
Area I - Computer Literacy - 3 hours

Students must earn a "C" or higher in all Education courses.
General Electives - 6-10 hours
Students take electives (100-200 level) as needed, in order to fulfill the minimum of 60 semester credit hours required for graduation. Students may not count MU 129 in General Electives if already counted in the GEC Arts & Humanities and may not count PSY 201 if already counted in the GEC Social Sciences.
Recommended courses for students who wish to continue on to major in Child Growth & Learning for Elementary Education teacher certification:
Students must earn a "C" or higher in all courses.
Courses may not count as fulfilling the requirements in more than one area of the program of study.
