Physical Education
Mission Statement
The Physical Education degree is designed to train forward-thinking people to be the coaches who will lead the next generation of athletes in the fast-paced world of sport. The program aims to prepare you for the demands of leading athletes in individual and team sports at all levels. You'll receive instruction in areas such as coaching individual and team sports, motivation in athletes, sports performance, administration and leadership, as well as officiating techniques and instruction.
Physical Education provides you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to pursue professional positions in a variety of coaching settings such as recreational, middle and high school, collegiate, professional and other community positions. You acquire a variety of skills that an increasing number of organizations seek as they hire those individuals who have a passion for coaching. It also provides you with an opportunity to pursue graduate coursework in sport coaching fields.

FSL 101 is required for new and transferring freshmen with less than 24 credit hours. Students must earn a "C" or higher in FSL 101 or HON 101.

122 minimum hours required for graduation.
All students must complete a comprehensive examination before he or she may receive a degree. The exam deals with only Athletic Coaching course work (courses with an AC or PE prefix). This exam is multiple choice, and grading is pass or fail. The results will be used as data collection for the program outcomes.
