Art and Design - Studio Art
Mission Statement
The mission of the Art and Design program is to engage every student to develop a passion for knowledge, innovation, and creativity by providing a strong foundation of fundamentals and a nurturing program through interactions with faculty who assist each student with educational experiences and guidance in attaining their individual goals and aspirations in art.
Degree Requirements
Area I – Foundation Skills - 3 hours

FSL 101 is required for new and transferring freshmen with less than 24 credit hours. Students must earn a "C" or higher in FSL 101 or HON 101.
Area I - Rhetoric and Communication - 9 hours
Students must earn a "C" or higher in ENG 101 and ENG 102 or HON 110.
Area I - Mathematics - 3-4 hours
Choose one from the following:

Required Art and Design Core Courses - 34 hours
Students must earn a "C" or higher in Art and Design Core courses.
Studio Art Requirements - 18 hours
Note: Students are required to take two different ART 390 courses; each is 3 credit hours. Students must earn a "C" or higher in Studio Art Requirements.
Upper Division Art Electives - 6 hours
Students must select six credit hours in upper division (300 or 400 level) ART courses.
General Electives - 17-21 hours
Students take advisor recommended supportive electives as needed, in order to fulfill the minimum of 120 semester credit hours required for graduation. These electives are individually tailored to the student's areas of interest and goals.
