Industrial Organizational Psychology
The field of Industrial/Organizational Psychology allows professionals to apply their understanding of the human experience to focus on and assess the behavior of employees in the workplace, and to then apply psychological principles and research methods to improve the overall work environment, including performance, communication, professional satisfaction, and safety. At Cumberland University, the Industrial/Organizational Psychology Master of Science degree will provide graduate students with a rigorous, comprehensive academic curriculum to help students become qualified, competent, and well-rounded professionals in positions of leadership, management, and authority. As part of this educational program, students will be required to have employment at all times in order to reflect upon and apply the newly learned information to their current workplace opportunities. Thus, aligning with the American Psychological Association's standards, students in our I/O program will apply psychological principles and research methods to improve professional environments, relationships, and outcomes.
